While data spaces provide the infrastructure for data collaboration and exchange, Data Products are the tangible outcomes that serve specific user needs within a data space. Data Products will be self-describing and contain metadata related to data structures, models, dictionaries, and schemas. The task will involve extracting and publishing code lists from existing data structures and standards. This effort aims to standardize and streamline the encoding of data by ensuring that code lists, essential for data interpretation, are readily accessible and aligned with established standards. By extracting and publishing code lists, developers and architects gain improved visibility and clarity into the composition and encoding of data, fostering greater interoperability and consistency across the organization's data ecosystem.
Furthermore, the task will entail the establishment of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) on legacy Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems. These APIs will facilitate the seamless integration of these legacy systems and services into the organization's evolving Data Mesh architecture. By providing standardized APIs, Allies and the NATO Enterprise enable efficient and secure access to data products, promoting agility and adaptability in data usage and sharing practices across operational domains and functional areas.
