The Reference Data Modeling process is a critical component of Reference Data Management (RDM) that focuses on designing a data model for structuring, and harmonizing reference data to ensure consistent, accurate, and interoperable representation across the organization or within specific data domains. It involves defining entities, attributes, relationships, hierarchies, and mappings, guided by international standards, canonical models, and semantic data frameworks (i.e. controlled vocabularies) to establish meaning, context, and relationships. Reference Data models support version control to maintain data quality and traceability.
