As NATO and national networks become increasingly federated, the plans to migrate to IPv6 need to be aligned and harmonised. In particular, Industry and service providers are starting to reduce efforts in further development of IPv4-based solutions in favour of IPv6, and are increasingly transitioning to IPv6 capabilities.
The Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) Policy provides the principles for a smooth and gradual migration towards IPv6
in order to harmonise the migration to IPv6, in alignment with Industry and Service Providers, of the NATO Enterprise.
The scope of this Policy covers the NATO Common Funded C3 Capabilities and ICT Services and is mandatory for the NATO Enterprise. NATO nations are encouraged to use this policy as a basis for their national IPv6 migration.
