Setting fit-for-purpose, agile processes to accelerate the design, acquisition, delivery and operation of the Digital Backbone is critical, together with the imperative to find a balance between innovation requirements and efficient control mechanisms. NATO shall redesign processes in areas such as capability planning, procurement, acquisition, and security accreditation to reflect evolving requirements brought about by new trends, such as EDTs, data-centricity, and zero trust. In addition, it is necessary to change policy, doctrine and ways of working in multiple areas, such as automating the authorisation processes for the allocation and use of national capabilities in NATO-led multi domain operations.
