The NATO Digital Backbone provides a federated connectivity and physical distribution framework that enables resilient, scalable, and secure digital services across the Alliance. It facilitates seamless data exchange by interconnecting sensors, decision-makers, actors, and effectors across organizational, national, operational, and security boundaries. Realizing logical paths between nodes, it aggregates sub-networks, facilities, and equipment, including cloud and edge services, and supports seamless communication, service delivery, and operational continuity. Adhering to allied governance, security, and interoperability standards, it provides the technical foundation for mission-critical collaboration, scalable C2, data and machine learning sharing ecosystems during peacetime, crisis, and conflict.
