The Waveform Policy provides the principles aimed at improving wireless interoperability through the exploitation of software defined radio technologies and introduction of modern interoperable waveforms. A long term goal of the Alliance shall be to build a library or repository, distributed or centzed, of waveform specifications, waveform functional and interoperability reference software that is accessible by NATO and NATO Nations. NonNATO Nations shall have access to this repository on a case-by-case basis, to be agreed by the C3 Board. As a short term solution, NATO shall create a registry of waveform artifacts . This policy provides guidance than can be used by NATO Nations and other entities that need to interoperate within Alliance Operations, Missions and Exercises using wireless capabilities with regards to waveform standards.
